I have my own operations in different regions, with what is arguably my largest operation in India. I have a bunch of oils that will take me literal years to get through producing from all the work I've been doing out there, as I've stockpiled huge quantities of material from the past several years, that will take me quite some time to work through distilling. It also means we will have some really cool and unique stuff that will be pretty much unheard of from anywhere else, as I'm the only vendor I know going to these lengths of internal productions.
The Trees used in this particular Tripura Series are all 150-450+ years old, and are all trees that I acquired and took down. 15 trees, total. Will take quite awhile to get woods over here (years, likely) - but at some point, you may see some of these insane woods making their way into the shop.
Tripuri 3 is the 3rd oil from the back half of 2024, when my team was in Tripura.
I was actually in India in Jan/Feb of 2025 - and this oil we began while I was actually in country. Which makes this particular oil really cool.
ABOUT THIS SERIES
From our time in Tripura, I have a bunch of very high grade single tree oils I'll eventually get around to producing from the 15 trees we took down. Should be at least 15-30 very high grade oils I'll produce, that I'll run through my smaller, custom-made copper pot. I already have 2 oils that are curing that will get released at some point (look for SC or SCP in the title when those come out = Small Copper Pot).
Until I can get more of the single tree productions - I started my focus by combining some woods from the trees we took down to produce a line of oils (that for the industry, would be very high grade), but are more affordable. But from me - these oils will be something that I can offer at fantastic prices considering this is all from materials we've controlled from harvest through production. The yields were exceptional (not something the average oils out there are doing), indicating the quality of the woods I reserved for this particular project were even better than I had hoped. It also means I can offer these oils at really great prices due to the unexpected high yields. These oils are punching way above their price tags.
We were in a few different areas of Tripura - this particular oil is a "pan-Tripuri" production, meaning it is made from a mix of all of these trees we took down, from all over the state. It is a single region oil, but not a single origin tree oil, of which I have many planned for the future. Stay tuned on those ...
SCENT
Let me first say that Tripura-origin oils are some of my favorites. There is a "classical" Hindi-ness to the odor profiles of this region that I find distinctly different from more common Assam-origin oils, and in the multitude of directions those profiles can go - I really dig how they all smell. So I'm personally quite liking what's coming out of the work so far.
The State of Tripura is in kind of a geographical "armpit" of Bangladesh - and you'll find some crossover with old wild Bangladeshi oils in the Tripuri DNA. That crossover usually presents as a kind of Chocolaty'ness - and I'm thrilled to say this is smooth and rich like a frothy milk chocolate !
-->Actually ... Tripuri 3 and Tripuri 4 are incredibly chocolately - be sure to check out both listings !
-->AND check out Tripuri 1 for a delightful Toasted Cashew and Praline + fuesil note (akin to the blast in Haflong Afterburn, but Nutty). Tripuri 1 is a POTENT oil ... in hindsight, I should have called it Tripuri Afterburn, haha.
-->AND check out Tripuri 2 for a delightful sweet Amber and Tobacco profile !
Tripuri 4 is what's called a Tobacco and Milk Chocolate Profile.
This particular oil is from 32 days of distillation, which has yielded a mellow, herbal, smooth, rich and satiating oil.
Tripura oils are also interesting in that - they tend to exhibit some Animalic and Leathery notes, rich and creamy like, even when pristinely distilled with no fermentation. Tripuri 3 you'll notice, has some great smooth Gourmand notes, almost smelling edible, like a smooth Milk Chocolate with hints of Herbs and Musk. Sounds like a weird combination of notes, but it slaps !
If you have ever experienced a nice Chocolate Note in an Indian or a Bangladeshi Oil - just imagine a smooth, herbal version. I can't quite put my finger on what this herbal note is, but I really like it. It's not green, it's not camphoraceous - and it smells like some "je ne sais quois" Herbal'yness. Mind you, it's not a cough drop kinda herbal kick, nor it it a "Chinese Medicine" kind of herbal note you'll get from some Chinese or Malaysian oils. It's more like an "Herbs du Provence" gentleness to it. Like rolling fields of herbs growing in the mountains.
And on the backend of it all - it's got a Muskiness to it that smells really delicious on my skin. I just want to bury my face in my hand. The long, slow cook really pulled some unique notes out in this oil.
The longevity is great, and the projection is more gentle and friendly, but good and strong. Don't let the cheap price fool you - this is a banger.
For a fourth run from the "bulk" material that I'll be distilling, I'm awfully happy with how this oil came out. I think you'll love it as much as I do !
-----
If you love Hindis or chase those warm, Herbal or Chocolate'y profiles - 2025 Tripuri 4 should be sitting on your shelf !
