So if you haven’t noticed - I haven’t had any Subitisms in the shop since last year.

Long story there, but I got totally screwed by my previous manufacturer with no heaters for Christmas '22 , my order still hasn’t been fulfilled after nearly a year (nor refunded) - and so I’ve been developing a BRAND NEW new heater.

We’ve had LOADS of pitfalls in developing these new heaters, including having 2 entire shipments destroyed in transit. This has been a labor of love - and a lotta pain. Nature of being an innovator.

Fortunately - I DO have several heaters here ready. I’m not quite prepared for a full-scale launch - but I wanted to offer the heaters I have available to you all, first. 🥰

*There are some variations to the Phoenix emblazoned on these heaters, due to the carving and sanding nature. These are truly hand-made, remember. So each heater is truly unique.

Each box is hand-made from some really awesome solid wood - this batch I made them in Oak. I'm offering in natural Oak-finish, as well as in a traditional Yakisugi.

The black, Yakisugi Heater is made from a Japanese technique of scorching the outside of the wood for a really badass, sleek look.

Both Natural Oak and Yakisugi heaters feel incredible in the hands - both in texture, and also in better mimicking the feel of holding a Kodo Cup in the hands. Something that wasn’t so feasible with the old model.

Lid fastens to both the top and bottom with magnets for a very refined look.

This item is handmade and sells out FAST. I can’t get them made fast enough to keep up with demand. I will be keeping this listed “in stock” because there is no other option in Etsy, and I can’t sell them if they aren’t listed. Although they are shipping when available, and generally take some time to get made and shipped out to catch up with the order curve - it is best to get your order in and get in line for the next available heater.

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS/FAQ :


1. How many times can the mica sheets be used?

—>Indefinitely. They are made of stone.
—>To clean, soak them in used tea leaves over night and then just rinse off and dry.

2. How long can you burn it at one time?

—>I’d say that depends on the materials. Many folks report heating for 1-3 hours. I generally use for 10-30 minutes at a time. Best suggestion is to be smart and pay attention. If it overheats - turn it off and let it cool before turning back on.

3. Are there certain settings for certain types of incense? (wood vs resin)

—>No. most materials tend to get some traction around 11 or 12. Best to go “low and slow”.

—>Play around with your different materials and find what that particular batch likes best. Size, thickness, resin, wood, resin density, etc - all these have an impact in responding to heat.

4. Can you burn oil on it?

—>Yes, although aroma diffusers will probably get a longer playtime on the oil

—>If heating an oil, I'd recommend several mica plates to moderate the temp as best as possible to draw out the volitization of the oil as long as possible.

5. If there is a problem, do you do repairs?

—>We test these when they are made and I think we’ve only every had one hiccup.

—>The most common issue has been an issue with the power cord. This is part of the reason why I’m having you order them directly, now, so you can deal with returns and exchanges on the power cord directly with Amazon or wherever you choose to buy it from.

—>These are handmade and delicate items. Handle them like you’d handle anything precious 😉

6. How to use?

—Most power cords will give a Voltage Reading

—>Most materials will start to get some action around 11 or 12

-->Resins and Resin-based Compounded Incenses will be more temp sensitive than woods

-->Different woods and materials will react at different temps - there's no hard or fast rule here. You'll need to learn your specific material's and specific batch's personalities

-->Best to have thin, flat contact against the mica

-->Use the cup for resins - as they often get liquidy and will make a mess

7. Cleaning

--> Heating Agarwood and Resins will leave some residue on the mica sheets.

--> To clean, soak the used mica plates over night in used tea leaves

--> Wipe, rinse with clean water in the morning

8. Did I overlook something needed for the directions?

-->I tried my best to dummy proof these directions, but ... sometimes details are overlooked

9. What is the average shipping estimate?

—> 4-8 weeks.
It may ship sooner. It may take longer. Please don’t message me repeatedly asking when it’s going to ship. These will ship when they ship, and you will get a shipping notification when it’s headed your way.

10. How do I make special requests?

—> Either message me BEFORE placing the order

—>Or better yet - put them in the NOTES when placing the order. I will do my best to accommodate, although I can’t guarantee every single request. Please be reasonable and use some common sense.


11. WARRENTY

-->These are handmade items. I check each and every single one of them before they ship to you. As such, it should work when you receive it. If it does not, please let me know ASAP. If it stops working a month or a year from now ... that is likely due to mishandling or misuse. We've made and sold enough of these to know that they don't just fail on their own. Let me know ASAP if there is a problem with the heater ON RECEIPT. Not 6 months later. Not a year from now.

-->People abuse and misuse them all of the time, which coupled with the international nature of how we manufacture these - does not make sense to be shipping things back and forth around the world to try and repair them. As such - treasure your new heater. These do not fail easily, but people DO break them by misusing them. Study all of the above. Ask questions if you don't know. Use your common sense. Check the power cords - those tend to fail most frequently - which is why I now have you purchase the power cords directly. It is much easier for you to return a power cord to Amazon directly.

-->As I said - these are sturdy. With rare exception, when one fails it is due to misuse. As such, we cannot gaurantee these beyond working receipt of the item. With that said, if there is a problem, please do reach out and let me know ASAP.
