Native orange trees growing in the rich soils of Belize have provided a darker, incredibly rich orange oil. The aldehyde content is higher than other orange oils and you can tell with its diffusiveness. Like any quality sweet orange, the aroma is delicious and similar to fresh sliced fruit. But there are unique candy-like nuances that add another complex dimension to an already wonderful oil.
The color is MUCH darker than most orange oil - it is a beautiful deep brownish red like a Belizean summer sunset. The magnificent aroma is attributed to the high content of oxygenated compounds in this oil, the result of extraction from darker, fully ripe fruits. Although this a machine pressed oil, darker citrus oils are usually indicative of hand pressed material. Labor cost causes hand pressed oils to be cost prohibitive and the difference in aroma is not significant. Some industry experts argue the aroma is fresher. This dark orange from Belize has an attractive fresh note but we attribute it to the ripeness of the fruits used. This stuff is exquisite.
This is the premium stuff. Candy sweet, oh-so-good Belizean Orange.
The materials that I get are not often found among more commonly accessible aromatherapy suppliers. The quality is in the top 1-3% that is reserved for perfumery use - and the production is often from small artisan operations rather than huge commercial commodity producers. This is a rare treat.
