I have my own operations in different regions, with what is arguably my largest operation in India. I have a bunch of oils that will take me literal years to get through producing from all the work I've been doing out there, as I've stockpiled huge quantities of material from the past several years, that will take me quite some time to work through distilling. It also means we will have some really cool and unique stuff that will be pretty much unheard of from anywhere else, as I'm the only vendor I know going to these lengths of internal productions.
The Trees used in this particular Tripura Series are all 150-450+ years old, and are all trees that I acquired and took down. 15 trees, total. Will take quite awhile to get woods over here (years, likely) - but at some point, you may see some of these insane woods making their way into the shop.
Tripuri 2 is the 2nd oil from the back half of 2024, when my team was in Tripura.
I was actually in India in Jan/Feb of 2025 - and this oil we began while I was actually in country. Which makes this particular oil really cool.
ABOUT THIS SERIES
From our time in Tripura, I have a bunch of very high grade single tree oils I'll eventually get around to producing from the 15 trees we took down. Should be at least 15-30 very high grade oils I'll produce, that I'll run through my smaller, custom-made copper pot. I already have 2 oils that are curing that will get released at some point (look for SC or SCP in the title when those come out = Small Copper Pot).
Until I can get more of the single tree productions - I started my focus by combining some woods from the trees we took down to produce a line of oils (that for the industry, would be very high grade), but are more affordable. But from me - these oils will be something that I can offer at fantastic prices considering this is all from materials we've controlled from harvest through production. The yields were exceptional (not something the average oils out there are doing), indicating the quality of the woods I reserved for this particular project were even better than I had hoped. It also means I can offer these oils at really great prices due to the unexpected high yields. These oils are punching way above their price tags.
We were in a few different areas of Tripura - this particular oil is a "pan-Tripuri" production, meaning it is made from a mix of all of these trees we took down, from all over the state. It is a single region oil, but not a single origin tree oil, of which I have many planned for the future. Stay tuned on those ...
SCENT
Let me first say that Tripura-origin oils are some of my favorites. There is a "classical" Hindi-ness to the odor profiles of this region that I find distinctly different from more common Assam-origin oils, and in the multitude of directions those profiles can go - I really dig how they all smell. So I'm personally quite liking what's coming out of the work so far.
The State of Tripura is in kind of a geographical "armpit" of Bangladesh - and you'll find some crossover with old wild Bangladeshi oils in the Tripuri DNA. Although I don't detect any chocolate notes emerging in this oil - some of the trees used in its production were from right along the Bangala border where more prominent chocolate notes tend to emerge. So who knows - maybe in time there may be some that develop as the oil ages.
-->Actually ... Tripuri 3 and Tripuri 4 are incredibly chocolately - be sure to check out those listings !
-->AND check out Tripuri 1 for a delightful Toasted Cashew and Praline + fuesil note (akin to the blast in Haflong Afterburn, but Nutty). Tripuri 1 is a POTENT oil ... in hindsight, I should have called it Tripuri Afterburn, haha.
Tripuri 2 is what's called an Amber Profile.
This particular oil is from the first 10 days of distillation, which captures both the most pristine top notes, as well as the richer, sweeter notes from a bit longer of a run.
Tripura oils are also interesting in that - they tend to exhibit some Animalic and Leathery notes, rich and creamy like, even when pristinely distilled with no fermentation. Tripuri 2 you'll notice, has some great smooth Gourmand notes, almost smelling edible, like chewy Toffee.
That Creaminess I mentioned, is also a savory sweetness that seeps from the Leather, with a Tea-like hint of Saffron Spice and a whisper of Smoke that almost has me licking my lips. Really sticks in and tickles your nose in a blissfully delightful manner. The smoothness of this oil I think makes it very approachable.
I know I keep mentioning the Amber / Gourmand tone of the oil - but it's also quite Tobacco'y. One of the most frequent questions I get when asking for recommendations from the shop is for Tobacco Profiles - and I think this one is gonna hit just right. If you're a Tobacco Profile Scenofile, pick up a bottle. You'll be quite happy.
The longevity is great, and the projection is good and strong. Don't let the cheap price fool you - this is a banger.
For a second run from the "bulk" material that I'll be distilling, I'm awfully happy with how this oil came out. I think you'll love it as much as I do !
-----
If you love Hindis or chase those warm, Gourmand and Tobacco'y profiles - 2025 Tripuri 2 should be sitting on your shelf !
