Tahitian Lime - Citrus x latifolia - Premium Pure Essential Oil - Rising Phoenix Perfumery

Country : Brazil
Species : Citrus x latifolia
Extraction : Expressed

Limes originate from Southeast Asia, specifically Indonesia and Malaysia, where lime trees were first cultivated around 4000 B.C. in Indonesia. By 800 A.D. they had spread to India, to Persia by 1000 A.D., and then to Arabia and North Africa, where they were cultivated by Arab traders. Through trade routes, lime trees spread across North Africa and Europe until Christopher Columbus brought their seeds to the Caribbean islands during his second voyage in 1493. Today, limes are grown worldwide in countries including Mexico.

From there, Spanish explorers introduced limes to Mexico in the sixteenth century, where they were later hybridized to produce both Key Lime and Tahitian Lime varietals.

Our Tahitian Lime is cold pressed from the fresh, tart, green rinds of the Citrus latifolia fruits growing in the sunny-warm orchards of the Brazilian countryside. This Tahitian Lime Essential Oil has a particularly bright, zesty, tart, slightly sweet aroma : excellent in natural perfumery and a truly fine Citrus!

When diffused, it's the oil can clear your mind and encourage mental energy.

Used in blends, it adds a deeply uplifting citrus note.

**Expressed Citrus is generally accepted to be photosensitive with some individuals. Caution when applying to skin and then going outside in sunlight. No cautions for diffusion.

This is the premium stuff. Bright, zesty, tart, slightly sweet aroma.

Tahitian Limes are sweeter and larger than Key Limes (Citrus aurantifolia), and because of this have a larger share of the global fresh fruit market. Tahitian Limes are also greener than Key Limes, resulting in a darker color and deeper scent profile of the finished oil. Tahitian Lime Oil is so dark green as to almost look black ! Its rich aroma makes up for any darkness in color, not to worry!

Tahitian Limes sold on the available market are most commonly from Mexico, as they are hybrids of a Mexican Lime. Mexican grown Tahitian Lime, from a perfumery perspective, is actually considered to be not as good as their lesser known Brazilian grown counterparts, yielding a premium, more costly oil.

Lime pairs well with Florals, other Citrus Oils, sweet materials like Vanilla, and Herb Oils like Lavender *and especially Basil*

The materials that I get are not often found among more commonly accessible aromatherapy suppliers. The quality is in the top 1-3% that is reserved for perfumery use - and the production is often from small artisan operations rather than huge commercial commodity producers. This is a rare treat.

Perfect for compounding your own perfume or aromatherapy blends - and incredible in an aroma diffuser.

**DOES NOT come with a regulator. You'll want to pick up some pipettes to use, as well.
I've got some pipettes listed in the shop should you need them.
