Class : Wild, Live Tree Filaria - Mixed Super and Sinking Chips Jungle : Werinama, East Seram, Maluku (some call Ceram Island) - Indonesia
I've been trying to make some really diverse incense sticks - stuff from places rarely seen any longer, as well as from places few have even heard of. This falls in the "few have ever heard of" category.
Came across this incredible batch of wood from East Seram - specifically from Werinama, in the Bagian Regency of Maluku, Indonesia
When it comes to Indonesian Gyrinops and Filaria, many have smelled dead and swamp woods from the Mangroves of Papua, generally around Meroke (and we have a stellar specimen of incense from here currently in the shop). But few have seen LIVE Filaria from higher grounds and dry forests.
Until now.
SCENT
I'd like to introduce you to Werinama - a beautifully powdery, Oudy scent hailing from the South Eastern part of Maluku.
It's a powdery scent reminiscent of makeup powder ... talc and a hint of sweetness, like underlying vanilla and ambergris. The resin density of the wood comes through nicely. Very nicely. Lingers in the room for quite some time.
We ground up over half a kg of gorgeous Super and Sinking chips. Big thick suckers ... not broken chips.
It's hard enough getting material from this area - I decided to make a nice batch from the entire lot of fantastic material, and this time (after a tremendous amount of repairs on equipment and more experimentation that anyone should have to do) we were able to work out 1.2mm sticks so you get more burn for the weight coupled with a superbly refined scent that is all powder and resin.
