This was quite a popular style of distillation when I released the original batch - so I set out to make another batch, now in it's 5th iteration. This is the 2023 batch we made.
What makes this oil unique? We distill it like an Oud oil - with a soak! If gives the oil a very deep Sandal note with a hint of what almost smells like an Oud. The effect is fantastic. Beautiful as a standalone oil to wear - and does crazy things when blending, enhancing whatever it is mixed with.
This 2023 batch came out very, very (very!) well.

Those familiar with Sandalwood know that Mysore is considered to be the best Sandalwood region in India, producing the most exquisite Sandalwood oils.
These days, it is rather difficult to find genuine Mysore Sandalwood oil - which is why you are so fortunate to have stumbled across Rising Phoenix! We are able to get our hands on genuine Mysore stock and distill Mysore Sandalwood oils of exceptional quality.
If you are an avid incense lover, you know that Mysore Sandalwood has several odor profiles that can be found within the wood...it's not just a single scent. For this reason, I have elected to distill the material in various manners which I feel has brought out the various aspects found within the wood, itself.
THE SCENT
2023 Mysore DEEP & BUTTERY smells incredibly deep, rich, and smoooooth.
I wanted to tap into something I've occasionally found in some Sandalwood incense I have found, so we took an unusual approach to distilling this oil - we distilled it like an Oud oil, with a soaking period that brought out an almost Oud-like quality in the scent profile. For a Sandalwood oil - this particular oil is incredibly unique!

In today's marketplace, true and pure Indian Sandalwood is very hard to come by. Much of the Sandalwood sold these days comes from other countries such as Sri Lanka, Australia, and New Caledonia. You'll find some exceptional examples of these other regional profiles - right here at Rising Phoenix. Uncommonly good odor profiles in a world of commonly boring oils.
