I’ve been long on the hunt for some traditionally produced, natural, Indian Attars. I’ve been on the hunt, far and wide - and have found a few to my liking.
Majmua is one of several traditional attars
Majmua is one of several classes of traditional Indian Attars - along with Black Musk, Shamama, and Amberi, among others - that are composed of various materials. In the past, nearly every distillation family had their own secret family formulations. Sadly - fewer and fewer families are producing these the old way - and nowadays synthetics reign.
All of these products being marketed above are largely, if not entirely - synthetic.
But the real stuff, if you can find it, is a traditionally distilled Indian Attar, composed of various - often dozens of - materials distilled into one another over several months.
This is what we have here with Phoenix’s Majmua. A traditional production containing dozens of woods, resins, spices and florals distilled over 3 months. It’s taken me quite some time to get here - and now I am happy to present to you this oil, along with a few other traditional productions.
You’ll find Phoenix’s Majmua to be sweetly musky - with hints of florals and spices and ‘je ne sais quoi’ - collected across the Subcontinent and Southeast Asia.
