LaoShan Monkoh 2014 - a Pinnacle Mysore Sandalwood Senkoh Incense Sticks

The term LaoShan is a reference to Lao Mountain in China - known as one of the birthplaces of Taoism. Despite being a reference to a location in China - the term is used in the context of the best of Mysore Sandalwood from India.

I’ve been continually expanding my Senkoh Series of incense sticks - both in terms of the variety of flavors, as well as working with incredibly talented artisans that I’m commissioning to make batches of incense for me.

I mention this because this batch was presented to me by one of the two talented Chinese artisans I’ve been working with after I’ve had him make me several batches of incense - a batch he made from an absolutely exquisite lot of Mysore Sandalwood back in 2014 that he had shelved, and I think he felt Rising Phoenix might be the right home for it. He was correct ... and I talked him into letting me take the last of it.

He had told me that back when he made it - he was selling it to his exclusive clientele 100g at a time for $1,850. Yowzah! Thankfully, I’ll be selling this in 10g tubes at a little bit better of price, making this accessible for the first time outside of exclusive high end Chinese connoisseurs.

Make no mistake, though - this may quite possibly THE BEST batch of Mysore Sandalwood incense sticks you’ve ever tried. Lighting up a stick is like a Kodo session in every sense of the word. Meditative, grounding, awe inspiring. It’s worth turning off all distractions and quieting the Mind in order to focus your attention to fully appreciate this otherworldly scent.
