Those that are familiar with my work know that I work in Chinese Medicine. I started my company while I was in med school, actually. Lots of interviews out there about me that you can read more on that if you're interested.

What you don't generally read about is my long practice of Yoga. I've been practicing for many years, and even went through a 3+ year training program while I was in med school. In addition to my own spiritual path - let's just say I see the world - and our place - in it through a variety of lenses.

I'm not some great yogi, mind you - but I find that both Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda, although two independent medical systems and and two separate medical practices - they do compliment one another in many regards.

"Svadhishtana" may sound vaguely familiar to you, as it is the name of the Sacral Chakra. In Chinese, this would be the Lower Jiao - The Seat of Jing (associated with the Kidneys / Adrenal Glads - which Govern Reproduction). Located in the area of the Sexual Organs - fueling the creative force that enables you to paint a beautiful picture, to build a business, or to create a life of love and abundance - as well as that of Physical Life.

There are VOLUMES of compendiums that you could read about this. Suffice it to say, if ever you'd like to do some reading ... you have several key words you can look up right there.

So what is Svadhishtana ATEEK - and why is it 2023??

To be clear - this is NOT an SQ oil.
This is a vintage Oud / Nocturnum I put together from some very, very special Ateek oils :

1937 Bhutanese Ateek
This oil is ripe with Vapor and Fruit, Ancient Forests and Whiskey. Hailing from the ancient forests of Bhutan, from somewhere around the Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary, deep in the remote forests of the Bhutanese countryside, nearing the border with Arunachal Pradesh. This oil, as do many of my Ateek oils, smells quite ancient. Of special note are the hints of smoke, varnished wood floors, antique woods, maybe a touch of florals and berries - and a gorgeous Vaporous drydown. It smells DARK, complex, and deliciously Vaporous. From what the distillation family told me, the oil was distilled from a single tree that was well over 300 years old, in a traditional wood-fired setup in a copper pot. It was distilled by the same family that produced my 2007 Sonai Rupai.

To this 86 year old Ateek Bhutanese Hindi, I paired it with what is probably the most unique Cestrum Nocturnum Oil I've ever smelled. Cestrum is a "Night Blooming Jasmine".

1960's Cestrum Nocturnum Ateek
Cestrum Nocturnum is species of plant in the potato family. It is NOT a true Jasmine. It is native to the West Indies, but has been naturalized in South Asia and India. It is EXCEEDINGLY RARE to find any Cestrum Nocturnum distillations, let alone with 6 decades of aging on it ... and with a famous history, to boot!

Interestingly, this oil has a bit of a pedigree - as I was able to acquire this by way of the grandson of the man who taught the Ajmal family how to compound fragrances. This comes from the vaults of his late grandfather. I don't have much of it, and wanted to make the best and most unique use so as many can experience it as possible. Considering it is quite Vapourous on it's own, and it is a mighty sultry scent - I thought this would pair perfectly with this Ateek Bhutanese oil distilled in 1937.

Oud Oils in general connect with the Kidneys and Stomach.
Cestrum Nocturnum - connects deeply with the Sex Organs ... hence the name of this oil and it's association with the Sacral Chakra.

Despite being such old oils - the Vapourous quality of them has Ateek Oud Nocturnum feeling quite lively, and the vapourousness of them has them feeling a bit bottomless. Together, they feel greater than their individual parts. The Sum being greater than.

Even the color of the oil is nearly black. It doesn't feel old and dusty. It's feels primordial, for sure - but it's still got some perk to it. If you like old, Ateek oils - something that'll caress your Soul ... Svadhishtana Ateek is an oil not to be missed!
