The last time I had a batch of this odor profile in the shop - it was 2016. It’s taken me quite some to be able to offer this rich, yogurty-sour milk profile again - nearly 8 years !
Those familiar with Sandalwood know that Mysore is considered to be the best Sandalwood region in India, producing the most exquisite Sandalwood oils. Although I push that consensus by offering a wide variety of exquisite Sandalwood oils from a number of different regions, produced by a wide variety of different distillation styles - it’s hard to argue with this exceptional batch of milky Special Reserve.
These days, it is rather difficult to find genuine Mysore Sandalwood oil - which is why you are so fortunate to have stumbled across Rising Phoenix! We are able to get our hands on genuine Mysore stock and distill Mysore Sandalwood oils of exceptional quality.
If you are an avid incense lover, you know that Mysore Sandalwood has several odor profiles that can be found within the wood...it's not just a single scent. For this reason, I have elected to distill the material in various manners which I feel has brought out the various aspects found within the wood, itself.
THE SCENT:
If you are familiar with the scent of premium old-stock Mysore Sandalwood sold through Japanese incense companies - then you have an inkling how this oils smells.
Even out of the box, the scent of unheated red meat heartwood chips smell OMG - and that is exactly what I was aiming for when developing the distillation for this particular oil.
Imagine the tartly sour scent of an immaculate cup of yogurt. Rich and opulent creamy buttery goodness - drying down to a gorgeous musky woodiness found in the best centennial red meats.
The Sourness of my Special Reserve pairs insanely well with just about anything - but especially with animalics and florals.
the last time I offered a batch of my Special Reserve, it sold out rather quickly. Highly recommend grabbing some to use, and some to shelve. It’ll age extremely well.
